CuraCards respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from https://www.curacards.com.au (the "Site"). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Personal information we collect
Information collected automatically ("Device Information")
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, such as your web browser, IP address, time zone and some of the cookies installed on your device. As you browse, we also collect information about the pages or products you view, the websites or search terms that referred you to the Site, and how you interact with the Site.
We collect Device Information using:
- Cookies – small data files placed on your device, often including an anonymous unique identifier. To learn more about cookies and how to disable them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.
- Log files – which record actions on the Site, including your IP address, browser type, internet service provider, referring/exit pages and date/time stamps.
- Web beacons, tags and pixels – small electronic files used to record how you browse the Site.
Information you give us ("Order Information")
When you make or attempt to make a purchase, create an account, or contact us, we collect information such as your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number and order details. Payment details are entered into our secure checkout and processed by our payment providers — CuraCards does not see or store your full card number.
How we use your personal information
We use Order Information to:
- process and fulfil your orders, including arranging delivery and sending invoices and order confirmations;
- communicate with you about your orders, pre-orders, returns and enquiries;
- screen orders for potential risk or fraud; and
- where you have agreed to receive it, send you news and offers about our products.
We use Device Information to help screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimise the Site — for example, by generating analytics about how customers browse and interact with the Site and by assessing the success of our marketing.
Sharing your personal information
We share personal information with trusted service providers who help us run our business, only as needed for the purposes above. These include:
- Shopify – our online store is powered by Shopify, which hosts the Site and provides our checkout. You can read Shopify's privacy policy at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.
- Payment providers – payments are processed through Shopify Payments and/or the other payment and checkout providers shown at checkout. These providers handle your payment details under their own privacy policies.
- Australia Post – we share your name, delivery address and contact details so your order can be delivered and tracked.
- Google Analytics – helps us understand how customers use the Site. You can read how Google uses personal information at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Shopify Inbox – we may use Shopify Inbox to chat with customers on the Site. If you contact us this way, the information you share is also handled under Shopify's privacy policy.
- Advertising partners – if we run online advertising, partners may use cookies or pixels to show you relevant ads and measure their performance.
We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law — for example, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request — or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers (such as Shopify, Google and Meta) store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States, Canada and other countries where they or their sub-processors operate. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that protect personal information appropriately.
Marketing
If you subscribe to our emails or opt in at checkout, we may send you news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us.
Do Not Track
We do not currently change our data collection practices in response to "Do Not Track" signals from your browser.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our store and checkout run on Shopify's secure platform. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Australian customers. Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can:
- ask to access the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information we no longer need (subject to any legal record-keeping requirements); and
- opt out of marketing communications at any time.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days).
Customers outside Australia. If you live overseas — for example, in the European Union, the United Kingdom or certain US states — you may have additional rights under your local laws, such as rights to data portability or to object to or restrict certain processing. Please contact us and we will help where those laws apply.
Data retention
We keep Order Information for as long as needed to fulfil your order, provide after-sales support, and meet our tax, accounting and other legal obligations. After that, we delete or de-identify it.
Children
Our Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Younger collectors should shop with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
