The latest addition to the Pokemon: The Trading Card Game is here, and it's called "Battle Styles." Living up to its name, this new Pokemon TCG will offer a new and interesting Battle Style mechanic, along with everything else that the Sword & Shield Series is known for, like the Pokemon V and VMAX cards.
It's clear that "Battle Styles" is an adaptation of the video game's Isle of Armor DLC. Why? Well, because not only it includes the legendary Urshifu as the featured Pokemon of the set. It also mimics the two major fighting styles of Urshifu, known as Rapid Strike and Single Strike. Speaking of which, the deck will contain 60 cards split between these two fighting styles. While Single Strike cards will have the ability to deliver all the huge, powerful, and hard-hitting strikes in single blows, Rapid Strike is all about the sneaky and technical strikes.
Apart from Urshifu's two forms in both V and VMAX forms, it's confirmed that the deck will contain Single Strike cards featuring Emboar, Houndoom, Tyranitar V while Octillery, Mienshao, and Empoleon V in Rapid Strike.
The Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield - Battle Styles is expected to release in Australia on March 19, 2021, and it will include a total of 160 cards, including 60 Battle Style cards, 12 Pokemon V, 6 Pokemon VMAX cards, 16 full-art cards, and 2 Special Energy.
